EU、デジタルビジネスへの移行を促進するため日本との協力を開始

Brussels seeks to reduce trade dependence on China and find avenues for cooperation with other Asian economies. The EU and Japan signed in 2022 the Digital Partnership Agreement, aimed at enhancing research on cutting-edge technologies, regulatory convergence and the formulation of common positions in international forums.

This has taken shape at the first EU-Japan Digital Partnership Council meeting in July, in a new collaborative framework affecting the global supply chain, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, 5G networks and data governance, among others.

On digital supplies and specifically on semiconductors, the two sides initialed to cooperate “in depth” on research and development; on an early warning mechanism in case of “critical disruptions” in the semiconductor supply chain; and on advanced skills for the semiconductor industry.
