The Spanish Chamber of Commerce and the Japan-Spain Business Circle will empower business relationships between both countries

The opening of the economy and the structural reforms being undertaken by the Japanese government led by Shinzo Abe, as well as the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Japan, currently under negotiation and due to be finalized in the coming months, open up new business and investment opportunities in Japan for Spanish companies.

For this reason, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce has signed an agreement to collaborate with the Japan-Spain Business Circle, the association that represents Japanese and Spanish companies with interests in both Spain and Japan. The Chamber serves as a platform for bringing together the two corporative worlds, and its activities focus on the promotion and development of economic and business relations between the two countries.

Its main objective is to strengthen relationships between Spanish and Japanese companies in matters of trade, business cooperation, and investment. The presidents of both entities, José Luis Bonet and Jorge Lasheras, have been put in charge of signing the agreement.

According to data managed by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the sectors that currently offer the greatest number of opportunities for Spanish companies include alternative energy, biotechnology, telecommunications, distribution and logistics, and the medical care and social assistance sector.

Furthermore, despite existing barriers to market access, Spanish companies in the fields of food and agricultural products, consumer goods, footwear, textiles and housing, although already present in the Japanese market, have significant opportunities to expand their presence.
