Record Catalan agri-food exports to Japan

In Japan, a market that stands out for its loyalty, agri-food exports from Catalonia have reached 500 million for the first time, of which almost 75% correspond to the pork sector. The Government opens a fixed ‘antenna’ in the country and Japan is consolidated as the second most important market outside the EU for the Catalan agri-food sector.

Last year, sales exceeded €500 million for the first time, up from €341 million in 2017. The active and dynamic Catalan agri-food sector has demonstrated its resilience “in the context of international instability, rising inflation and food and energy prices”.
