A logistics bridge between Africa and Europe
Villamuriel de Cerrato, in Palencia, has become a strategic point for the European automotive industry thanks to the recent inauguration of a new logistics HUB, the result of a joint venture with the European automotive industry. The new centre, located on a site of 12,000 square metres built and a further 30,000 unbuilt, will serve as a key node for supply chains between Africa and Europe. Designed to manage the supply of components to manufacturers in Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Romania and Turkey, it reinforces Palencia’s position as a strategic reference in automotive logistics.
Andreas Di Vece highlighted during the event the technological advantages of the HUB: ‘The state-of-the-art technology guarantees precision, traceability and a high level of automation, making it possible to meet the growing demands of the European automotive market and optimise operating costs’.
For his part, Munenori Yamada underlined the transformative impact of this project: ‘This centre represents confidence in the future and is an example of the commitment of Yazaki and Nippon Express to the development of Palencia and Castilla y León’.
A strategic investment for local growth
The project has involved an investment of more than 10 million euros, carried out in collaboration between Nippon Express and Yazaki, and will generate 50 direct jobs in its first phase. The jobs cover profiles such as operators, logistics technicians and engineers specialising in advanced technology.
In addition to the direct employment benefits, the development of the HUB has involved a significant investment in infrastructure, reinforcing the region’s attractiveness as a logistics hub and contributing to the economic dynamism of the community.
With this initiative, Nippon Express and Yazaki not only consolidate their leadership in the sector, but also demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the global automotive industry.
