Lunch for CEJE members with Carme Poveda, director of economic analysis of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce
The Japan-Spain Business Circle (CEJE) has initiated a series of meetings/lunches with personalities from different fields, to discuss current, interesting and important topics for both business and personal development.
At this lunch held on Wednesday 14 May at the Círculo Ecuestre, members had the opportunity to meet and talk with the director of economic analysis of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Carme Poveda, who shared her views on the current economic situation and the challenges posed by the tariff policy of the United States.
During her speech, Carme Poveda warned of the increase in global uncertainty, which is making economic forecasts difficult. In this context, US tariff policy is presented as a ‘new black swan’ for the economy, whose impact is limited in general terms, but is concentrated in specific sectors, companies and territories.
Poveda also highlighted the resilience of the Catalan and Spanish economies, driven by the dynamism of employment, private consumption and sectors such as tourism and construction. Despite the challenges, he stressed that companies are well positioned to adapt thanks to their financial strength and capacity to react.
La comida concluyó con un coloquio entre los socios asistentes, quienes valoraron positivamente el análisis de Carme Poveda y la oportunidad de compartir impresiones sobre la evolución económica global y su impacto en los negocios.
The lunch concluded with a discussion among the attending partners, who appreciated Carme Poveda’s analysis and the opportunity to share impressions on global economic developments and their impact on business.
