La Casera celebrates 75 years on the table: a historic flavor with a Japanese aroma
“If there is no Casera, we are leaving!” proclaimed the popular advertisement for this famous Spanish drinks brand. This product is celebrating 75 years on the table at home and in restaurants in Spain. This soft drink, which was created in 1949, has been a success ever since it was launched on the market by a single family.
At the moment, they have three factories in Spain, but decades ago they had 53 plants spread across the country. The most difficult moment for the brand was in the 1990s and had consequences such as the closure of plants, the dismissal of workers and great economic losses. The entry of an investment fund helped La Casera stay afloat.
The Japanese group Suntory took over the company in 2009, a year after the start of the Great Recession that hit the economy 15 years ago. Suntory Beverage & Food Spain, manufacturer of brands such as Schweppes, La Casera and Trina, increased its profit by 21% in 2022, reaching 412 million euros.
