Japan and Spain, friends and strategic partners
“I began my diplomatic career in a Spain in the midst of the Transition. Freedom was flourishing in society, and there was an intense debate about Spain’s position in Europe. After 40 years, I have returned as Ambassador to Japan and have been surprised by the extraordinary transformation of Spain, today a key member of the European Union. Japan and Spain have magnificent relations at all levels, but I believe that there are also areas of collaboration where there is still a long way to go. My professional motto as a diplomat is to achieve concrete results and to achieve them, I have set three objectives during my tenure as Ambassador to Spain: strengthen business relations, consolidate the strategic partnership, and promote exchanges between civil society”.
H.E. Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu. Ambassador of Japan in Spain
