Dining with the Ambassador of Japan to Spain, H.E. Mr. Takahiro Nakamae

The Círculo Empresarial Japón España (CEJE) held a dinner with the Ambassador of Japan in Spain, H.E. Mr. Takahiro Nakamae, on May 10 at the Círculo Ecuestre in Barcelona. During the cocktail reception, CEJE members, who attended in large numbers, had the opportunity to talk with the Ambassador and the Consul General of Japan in Barcelona, Mr. Yasushi Sato, who accompanied him.

At the start of the dinner, the President of CEJE, Jorge Lasheras, welcomed the Ambassador and thanked him for his presence at this meeting with the Japanese and Spanish companies attending the event. Mr. Nakamae, who arrived in Madrid on December 12 to assume the post of Ambassador of Japan in Spain, emphasized his excitement at “returning to this wonderful country after having lived for two years in Valladolid and Madrid between 1986 and 1988, when he began his career as a diplomat”. According to the Ambassador, he has found a Spain immersed in an extraordinary transformation and it gives him great satisfaction to be able to return to this country.

The Ambassador then gave a magnificent dissertation on current geopolitics, the changes being experienced by today’s society, Japan’s diplomatic strategy and the importance of international cooperation. Finally, he referred to the bilateral relations between Spain and Japan, which are sustained by the bonds of friendship cultivated for centuries. According to the Ambassador, these solid foundations have developed thanks to mutual understanding and diplomatic relations. “In this context, today we are in a stage of consolidation and strengthening of this relationship as strategic partners,” the Ambassador argued.
