High Turnout at Conference Organized by CEJE on Catexit

On January 18, the Japan-Spain Business Circle organized a conference titled “Catexit: Business and Taxation” to analyze  the consequences of Catalonia’s possible independence from a legal and fiscal perspective.

The presentation was organized by Miguel Pelayo, Legal Area Director for our corporate member BDO Abogados y Asesores Tributarios, who objectively and professionally presented legal issues to consider, as well as their possible effects on the economy  in scenarios in which Catalonia’s political relationship with Spain could change.

The presentation was followed by a lively exchange of opinions that took place during the appetizers served afterwards.

The function involved broad participation from the CEJE associates, as well as the Consul General of Japan in Barcelona, the Honorable Mr. Naohito Watanabe, and the Assistant Consul General, Ms. Akiko Sagano. Business representatives from the Spanish-Swedish Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona  also attended the event. They were accompanied by their president, Mr. David Elvira and their Director General,  Ms. Asa Eriksson.
