Euskadi shows its gastronomic tourism in Japan
Within the framework of the VII UNWTO World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism, a delegation from Basquetour, the Basque Tourism Agency, made an institutional visit to Japan. The congress, which the Basque Country hosts in alternate years, took place in the Japanese city of Nara between 12 and 15 December. The delegation was led by the Minister of the Basque Government and director of Basquetour, Javier Hurtado.
The World Forum on Gastronomic Tourism is the main world event of this type of tourism and serves as a platform to show the Japanese market all the strength of Euskadi in this segment. This year’s edition focused on the role of gastronomy tourism in empowering women and young talent, advancing cultural exchange and authenticity, and enhancing the value for destinations of food producers.
