The Spanish Chamber of Commerce and the Spain-Japan Business Circle will promote business relations between the two countries.

The opening of the economy and the structural reforms being carried out by the Japanese government led by Shinzó Abe and the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Japan, currently under negotiation and to be finalized in the coming months, open up new trade and investment opportunities in Japan for Spanish companies.

For this reason, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce has signed a collaboration agreement with the Spain-Japan Business Circle, the association that represents Japanese and Spanish companies with interests in both Spain and Japan. It is the meeting platform between both corporate worlds and its activity is focused on the promotion and development of economic and business relations between both countries.

The main objective is to intensify relations between Spanish and Japanese companies in the areas of trade, business cooperation and investment. The presidents of both entities, José Luis Bonet and Jorge Lasheras, signed the agreement.

According to data provided by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the sectors currently offering the most opportunities for Spanish companies are alternative energies, biotechnology, telecommunications, distribution and logistics, as well as the health care and social assistance sector.

Likewise, and despite the existing barriers to market access, Spanish companies in the agri-food, consumer goods, footwear, textile or habitat sectors, although already present in this market, have room to increase their presence.
