CEJE PARTNERS’ LUNCH WITH JAPANESE ARTIST WATURU KOIKE
From the Círculo Empresarial Japón España (CEJE) we have initiated a series of meetings/lunches with personalities from different fields, to deal with current, interesting and important topics for both business and personal development.
In this fourth lunch held on Tuesday 19 November at the Círculo Ecuestre, and which was attended by the Consul General of Japan in Barcelona, Ms. Akiko Shikata, the members had the opportunity to meet and talk with the Japanese artist, Waturu Koike, who shared his professional career and his artistic vision.
During the meeting, the artist highlighted his early career as a marketing manager for a snack company, where he explored business strategies and market dynamics. His meeting with a marketing mentor in the United States gave him a new perspective: ‘Marketing is art’. Inspired by this philosophy, he decided in 2000 to dedicate himself fully to the world of art.
During his talk, Wataru spoke about his experience in Catalonia, where he found inspiration in its landscapes and culture, such as his visit to Montsant in 2006. For him, art becomes a tool of connection between people and nature. This approach is reflected in each of his works that he showed during the lunch.
At the end of his intervention, CEJE members had the opportunity to engage in a conversation with the artist about his collaborations with global brands, the inspirations for his works and his connection between art and marketing.
