CEJE members’ lunch with Gonzalo Bernardos, economic analyst and consultant

he Japan-Spain Business Circle (CEJE) has initiated a series of meetings/lunches with personalities from different fields, to discuss current, interesting and important topics for both business and personal development.

At this fifth lunch held on Tuesday 28 January at the Círculo Ecuestre, members had the opportunity to meet and talk with the economist Gonzalo Bernardos, who shared his views on various key aspects of the current economy.

During the meeting, Gonzalo highlighted Spain’s economic growth, which in the last quarter has registered a 3.5% increase in GDP, which has generated a climate of optimism for the future. This growth, driven in part by the digitalisation of companies, is allowing the country to position itself as a benchmark in innovation and technological transformation in Europe.

With regard to Catalonia, Mr. Bernardos stressed the need to encourage greater positioning of companies in the region, highlighting the opportunity it represents for economic growth and job creation. Although there is growing confidence among Catalan companies, Mr. Bernardos pointed out that there are still important challenges, such as the scarce presence of large technology companies and the need to attract investment in key sectors for the global economy. At the end of his speech, he reviewed Japan’s economic milestones and shared his forecasts for the country’s future.

Ceje’s partners had the opportunity to talk to the analyst on a variety of important topics. Among them, they discussed public administration policies in Spain, the growing importance of cryptocurrency investment as an emerging asset class, and the dynamics affecting the global economy, including the impacts of digitalisation and sustainability.
