CEJE celebrates the third afterwork session with BDO in 2022

This Tuesday, October 4th, the Japan Spain Business Circle held the third and last afterwork session of this year with the participation of BDO, at the Círculo Ecuestre in Barcelona.

BDO has more than 50 years of experience, a consolidated presence in 164 countries and more than 95,414 professionals, which make BDO one of the leading professional services firms in Spain and in international markets. In Spain, more than 1,200 professionals and partners are part of BDO, providing audit, advisory, lawyer and outsourcing services.

This third session, under the theme “The legal challenge of sharing personal data outside Europe”, gave CEJE partners the opportunity to receive BDO’s expert opinion on the legal implications of a new globalized society, in which cross-border flows of personal data are a key element.

The event featured a magnificent presentation by Albert Castellanos Rodríguez, Director of Digital Law at BDO and an expert in the fields of legal privacy and cybersecurity. Albert Castellanos Rodríguez has his own office and is a collaborator in different educational and university institutions. Prior to starting his professional development, he prepared the oppositions to access the body of Notaries dependent on the General Directorate of Registries and Notaries. In recent years, he has combined professional development and teaching and research activity in different university institutions such as UAB, IL3-UB, BSM-UPF, UOC, EUNCET and UNIR.

Mr. Castellanos not only offered CEJE partners a presentation packed with information on the evolution of international data protection laws, he also gave guests the opportunity to actively participate in the event in a Q&A session. BDO’s collaboration with CEJE and its partners is notorious, and from CEJE we are immensely grateful for the opportunity to have been able to organize these three afterwork sessions together.

To celebrate this last session of the series, the afterwork drink consisted of a whiskey tasting provided by Glenrothes, a company born in the town of Rothes in Scotland with a long history of making Scotch whiskeys. We thank our partner Elite, who made this tasting possible, where all the guests could taste three different whiskeys with caviar pairing, giving a deserved conclusion to this series of afterworks.
