Lunch for CEJE members with Martí Saballs, director of Economic Information of Prensa Ibérica
From the Japan-Spain Business Circle (CEJE), we have initiated a series of meetings/lunches with personalities from different fields, to discuss current, interesting and important topics for both business and personal development.
At this lunch, held on Monday 26 May at the Círculo Ecuestre, and which was attended by Ms. Akiko Shikata, Consul General of Japan in Barcelona, the members had the opportunity to meet and talk with Martí Saballs, director of Economic Information of Prensa Ibérica, who shared his views on the current economic outlook, both nationally and internationally.
During his speech, Saballs explained how one of the country’s leading publishing groups is structured and works, and offered an analysis of the situation of the Spanish economy. He highlighted the agility and adaptability of companies in the face of rapid market changes, but also warned about the global challenges that could affect their growth. In this context, he mentioned the slowdown of economic growth in China, the restrictive monetary policy in the United States and Europe, and the trade tensions that continue to affect international relations. He also stressed the strategic importance of Barcelona as a key centre for attracting talent and international investment.
He stated that the Catalan capital could still position itself as a European benchmark if it strengthened its institutional stability and international openness.
The meeting concluded with a discussion among the attending partners, who praised Martí Saballs’ analysis and welcomed the opportunity to debate the challenges and opportunities shaping the current global economic landscape.
