Presentation of the CEJE Business Climate Report; Japanese Companies in Spain

n 26 March, the Círculo Empresarial Japón España (CEJE) presented its report Business Climate: Japanese companies in Spain at the headquarters of its partner Cuatrecasas in Madrid. This study reaffirms Japan as the main Asian investor in our country, with an accumulated investment, between 2010-2023, of 9.2 billion euros, surpassing China by more than 30% and consolidating its position as a key player in the Spanish economy.

In the last decade, Japanese business presence in Spain has grown by 70%, reaching 400 companies by 2024. Japanese investment has been concentrated in strategic sectors such as the chemical industry, the automotive industry, renewable energies and information technology, driving the country’s economic and technological development.

The report underlines that more than 70% of Japanese managers in Spain foresee sustained growth in the coming years, reinforcing Japan’s role as a strategic partner for our economy. Spain’s stability and favourable business environment continue to attract Japanese investment and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

The presentation of the report was attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Spain, Takahiro Nakamae, who highlighted the strength of bilateral economic relations and the importance of continuing to promote business cooperation. The event also brought together the media and our CEJE partners, who gave their views on the future of Japanese investment in Spain and its impact on economic development.
