The president of the Japan-Spain Business Circle (CEJE), Jorge Lasheras, attended the Japan Night event, held within the framework of the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, at the Japan Pavilion of Fira de Barcelona.
The event, organized by the Smart City Institute Japan (SCI-Japan) and the Consulate General of Japan in Barcelona, brought together institutional, business, and academic representatives from Japan and Catalonia in an atmosphere of cooperation and exchange of ideas on urban innovation and technological collaboration.
During the day, the special event of the Japan-Catalonia Year was also held, under the title “Towards Co-Creating Innovation between Regions and Cities in Catalonia and Japan”. Within this framework, the Minister of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Ms. Núria Montserrat Pulido, spoke, highlighting the opportunities for collaboration between both territories in the fields of research, sustainability, and technology.
The meeting included an artistic performance by the Barcelona-based cellist Taichi Tsukumo, as well as a presentation of Digital Kamishibai, which combined art and Japanese digital technology.
Japan Night culminated in a reception where attendees could enjoy a special selection of Japanese sake and share a space for dialogue aimed at strengthening collaboration between companies from Japan and Spain.
With its participation in this event, CEJE reaffirms its commitment to promoting economic, cultural, and technological relations between both countries, consolidating its role as a meeting point and cooperation between the Japanese and Spanish business communities.
