Sony chooses Barcelona to set up an Artificial Intelligence centre, the second in Europe
Sony has chosen Barcelona to set up an Artificial Intelligence research centre. The Japanese multinational, through its subsidiary Sony AI, plans to develop technological systems that will support its team of scientists who carry out discoveries with this technology. The company also wants to research projects linked to gastronomy.
According to a statement from Acció, the Catalan government’s agency for business competitiveness, the technology group has a centre with the same characteristics in Switzerland, making the Barcelona centre the second centre with the same characteristics in Europe. In Japan and the United States, Sony also has AI centres of this subsidiary, which was founded in 2020. Sony was already established in Barcelona, where the Spanish branch specialising in commercial services is located.
