NTTデータがバルセロナに4,000人の専門家を擁する新しい本社を開設

NTT DATA, a company in the top 10 IT service providers in the world, has inaugurated its new corporate headquarters in Barcelona. The company goes one step further in the city by combining, in this new headquarters, its 11 locations, the result of the growth of recent years and more than 25 years in Barcelona.

Thanks to the hybrid work model, the organization’s commitment to Barcelona, and the growing need for experts in the field of digital transformation, the number of professionals working at NTT DATA Barcelona currently reaches 4,000. This makes Barcelona the second location with the largest number of people in the entire region of Europe and Latin America, and one of the main globally.


The new offices are located in 22@, the technological district of the city and have a total area of more than 20,000 m2 with capacity to house 2,500 professionals. These new offices have been designed under a new hybrid work model, destined to be a meeting and co-creation space between teams, clients and partners and to face the company’s growth rate in the region: during 2022 700 people were hired in Barcelona, and the forecast is to continue growing with 3,000 new professionals in Spain as a whole during 2023,  of which around 1,000 will join the new headquarters in Barcelona.

The opening ceremony, held on Monday, was chaired by Pere Aragonès, president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and was also attended by Roger Torrent, Conseller d’Empresa i Treball and Jaume Collboni, first tinent d’alcalde de   l’Ajuntament de Barcelona.  

During the opening ceremony, Sergi Biosca, CEO of NTT DATA Spain and Xavier Rovira, managing partner of the Barcelona office, accompanied the authorities and other attendees on a tour of the new facilities, in which they were able to learn about the work carried out by the company to promote the digital transformation of its customers and generate value for the city of Barcelona and Catalonia.

President Aragonès expressed “his gratitude to NTT DATA for its contribution in accompanying companies and administrations during their digital transformation process, and for its commitment to the country’s economy“. He also stressed that “Catalonia is one of the ecosystems of southern Europe from the technological point of view, with more present and more prospects for the future“.

Forhis part, the first mayor of Economy, Labor, Competitiveness and Hisenda, Jaume Collboni, has declared that “the new headquarters of NTT DATA confirms that Barcelona is a global technological capital thanks to the transformation of the economy that we are promoting, generates opportunities for young people who are now training and shows us the need to plan infrastructures in the 2030 horizon that connect  Barcelona’s talent with the world as an intercontinental airport“.

“For NTT DATA, Barcelona is a key city for its business fabric, its dynamism and above all for its talent, our most valuable asset. We have been present in Barcelona for more than 25 years  and we are very proud to inaugurate this new headquarters, in the most technological and innovative district of the  city, designed to face the challenges of the future with our  differential work model, in addition to being able to continue providing the best services to our customers,  and, at the same time, add value to the city” explained Sergi Biosca.

Barcelona, a great bet of the company

Of the 20,000 employees that NTT DATA has in Spain, 2 0% are in Catalonia, with Barcelona being one of the largest offices -both by number of professionals and by projects-, in addition toa benchmark in the NTT DATA Group for its strategic collaboration in global projects.

Despite the economic scenario of instability, the company’s growth forecasts also mean an increase in the number of professionals on staff, qualified and specialized technological profiles that provide socioeconomic value to the region, which makes the company one of the main employers in Barcelona, excelling in the digital technology sector.

Tribute to Barcelona, talent and science

The conceptual and aesthetic design of the headquarters has been thought outor taking into account two fundamental concepts for the company:  its origins and talent. For this reason, its plants are themed with some of the most emblematic places in the different areas of the city, such as Passeig de Gràcia, modernism, the Barri Gòtic, the Palau de la Música, Park Güell or the Sagrada Família, and among others, culminating on the 12th floor with the Mercat de la Boqueria, which houses the canteen and dining room.

In the same way, the company has designed a plant, called 22@, in which its business center or customer area is located, a space designed to offer the best experience to its visitors or customers. The history of this space is a journey through the history of science and technology through the talent of the people who have evolved innovations to our times.
