Governing Body and its Composition
Board:
General Assembly Elections.
Between 7 and 15 members (Chair, Vice Chair, General Secretary, Treasurer, and Voting Members). 4-year term
Service is unpaid.
General Assembly:
Constitutes all members and resolutions passed by all members who are up to date on their dues.
Members
The Association has four types of members:
Corporate Members: Those businesses or institutions established in Spain with a minimum of 10% of Japanese equity, directly or indirectly, as well as Spanish companies or institutions that have interests in Japan. They shall be represented in the Association by their Management, regardless of said management’s nationalities. They shall pay dues and have a right to vote.
Honorary Members: Those physical persons who have been Management of businesses or institutions with a minimum of 10% of Japanese equity, directly or indirectly, or Spanish companies or institutions that have interests in Japan. Also those physical or legal persons who have shown a special dedication to Spain–Japan relations. Naming of honorary members shall be reserved for the Board. They shall not pay dues and shall have a right to vote.
Personal Members: Those physical persons who, regardless of their nationality, have been involved or are interested in the development of Spain–Japan relations. They shall pay dues and have a right to vote.
Sponsoring Members: Those physical or legal persons who, without obtaining direct benefits from the Association or having any direct interest in Japan, contribute, with their financial contributions, to the promotion and development thereof. Naming of sponsoring members shall be reserved for the Board, at the request of any member. They shall pay dues and have a right to vote.
Honorary Members: These are natural or legal persons who, due to relevant merits, have distinguished themselves in institutional, social, business, or cultural relations between Spain and Japan. The appointment of Honorary Members shall be the responsibility of the Board of Directors. Honorary Members may attend the General Assembly with speaking rights but without voting rights, shall not be required to pay membership fees, and may not serve on the Association’s Board of Directors.
